ITU World Championship in Holland

I was notified this week that I have been selected to represent the USA in my age group in the 2008 ITU Long Course Triathlon World Championship in Holland in August based on my Musselman finish. The course distances are listed in metric, but basically it is a 2.5 mile swim, a 75 mile bike and a 18.5 mile run. The swim is slightly longer than the Ironman swim, but the bike and run are about 70% of the ironman distance.

So I thought I would have the year off from the long distance races, but it is pretty hard to pass this up. Holland should be a good vacation too.

My body is still recovering and having added 15 pounds isn't helping my workouts much. But it is winter and low volume, slower, more relaxed training is good.

I'm kicking off a Triathlon special interest group in the bike club. We'll see how that goes.
