I've already done five 5Ks this winter, a 10 mile race and two 5 mile time trials and it's only mid April.
The problem is that I got injured and haven't run (much) in 5 weeks due to this injury.
The next problem is that I have my season opener duathlon tomorrow.
Anyway, I don't want to talk about the injury. W
What I want to do is to capture some notes on race prep while it's still fresh in my mind, because I wish it didn't take so long and I think I can get better at this.
Step 1: Prep race wheels. Clean them, fill them with air, make sure the glue is good, etc.
Step 2: Remove Old wheels
Step 3: Release Brakes, Change Brake pads
Step 5: Reconnect brakes - this usually take FOREVER to get it right so they aren't rubbing
Step 6: Remove training equipment (speed sensor, bottle mount, tool bag, etc.)
Step 7: Check Bike Computer - make sure it has all the right race day settings
Step 8: Set up and test hydration system for the race distance.
Step 10: Practice mount and dismount

Step 8: Set up and test hydration system for the race distance.
- For longer races (70.3 and above), this requires aero bar hydration, plus back of seat bike mount, plus built in hydration bladder on Shiv
- For Olympic and Sprint, the bladder is enough
Step 10: Practice mount and dismount
- Dismount: loosen both shoes, take LEFT foot out of shoe prior to dismount area, slide right foot out of shoe and pull right leg over bike next to right leg while moving
- Mount: get speed up to at least 20MPH before stop pedaling to get feet in shoes; TIGHTEN straps really good
