I've been doing tons of miles into work. Averaging over 100 miles a week on my bike commute alone. I have a couple of 160 mile weeks. My car is feeling neglected.
It is tough doing this back to back to back.
Basically it is 20 mile ride, 8 hours off, 20 mile ride, 12 hours off, repeat. It's not the mileage, but the lack of recovery that makes this difficult.
I definitely try to do some easier rides, but I get bored and impatient going too slow.
Typical Stats for my commute:
average heart rate ~ 130
elevation gain round trip ~ 2,200
average speed ~ 17-20
commute time ~ 56-75 minutes
